CORTEZ WINS BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE AT ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL

This weekend, at the magical Atlanta Film Festival, Cortez was honred with the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature

Look at that sucker! It's huge!

Look at that sucker! It's huge!

The Atlanta program was full of greatness this year, as always, so this was totally unexpected (hopefully someone caught Cheryl's squeal of surprise at the awards brunch.) We are so proud to lug this beautiful trophy home.

And lookie who Cheryl ran into! Joyce Wong, director of Wexford Plaza and good ol' Slamdance 2017 buddy.

Now we head to the DALLAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. Here's our first review to kick things off!

DIFF 2017 REVIEWS: CHERYL NICHOLS’S CORTEZ DEMONSTRATES EXTRAORDINARY STORYTELLING IN A FILM ABOUT BECOMING WHOLE

April 3, 2017

by Kate Morgan

APRIL TOUR DATES

Tracing the footsteps of 1970s American neo-dramatists like John Cassavetes and Bob Rafelson, Nichols imbues her debut with a tender melancholy and existentialism that showcases an equally introspective and tumultuous tale of realists and dreamers vying for some balance between hope and angst, ego and unconditional love.

POST SLAMDANCE BUBONS

Well that was a blast, man. I'm sitting here from my death bed, having contracted what is almost certainly five strands of the Bubonic Plague brought to Park City from all over the world. But it gives me some time to think about how Slamdance remains one of the greatest, true independent film festivals in the world. We saw some movies there, including a few we really loved: WEATHER HOUSE , KATE CAN'T SWIM and WEXFORD PLAZA

See these films in your city when you can.

Speaking of which: we will soon have some exciting news about Cortez playing at festivals in various cities across the US. Stay tuned for all that.

In the meantime, check out some of our REVIEWS from the Slamdance premiere. Some pretty nice stuff being said about us. Very proud.

Okay, that's all. I gotta go pop in a hydration drip and meet with a lawyer about my last will and testament.

<cough cough>

Love,

Cheryl

p.s. Crap, how could I forget?

CONGRATULATIONS TO CORTEZ'S OWN DRAGO SUMONJA FOR HIS FILM LUCKY PREMIERING AT SXSW!
